Council
Mission Statement
The Diversional Therapy Association
Australia National Council is committed to promote,
foster and advance the development of the profession
of Diversional Therapy in Australia and internationally,
and to support and advocate for the State Member Associations.
To ensure for its members that the practice of
Diversional Therapy continues as an ongoing, viable and relevant
practice, contributing to consumers and society.
The Objects of National Council
1. Promote, foster and advance
Diversional Therapy in the Commonwealth of Australia and its Territories
2. Acquire, prepare, edit, print
publish or issue and circulate books, papers, periodicals
and or circulars relating to any matter of interest
to the members of the DTAA – National Council.
3. Promote higher standards in curriculum
development in Diversional Therapy in the tertiary
education sector.
4. Inform members of technical and
commercial developments of Australian or overseas
origin, in the field of Diversional Therapy which
may affect the profession of Diversional Therapy in
Australia or the members of the DTAA-National Council
generally.
5. Provide recognition to persons,
firms, companies or other organizations for services
rendered to Diversional Therapy.
6. Work in co-operation with others
in the field of health, community services and education
for the purpose of the advancement of Diversional
Therapy.
7. Co-operate with any company,
person or persons or to join, co-operate or affiliate
with any overseas or Australian national organization
to further the objects of the DTAA National Council.
8. Consider and take such action
as may be necessary on national matters and without
limiting the application of this cause, to prepare
statements of case in such matters.

Obligations and responsibilities
of DTAA National Council
National Council exists in its current
form with limited liability however the board does
have responsibility to its affiliated membership to
enact the objects of the articles of association through
a formal process consistent with the Objects of Association
and the Mission. Evidence, not only of intent but
also implementation, of a strategic approach to future
development will ensure the viability and relevance
of the profession and practice of Diversional
Therapy.
DTAA National Council representatives
develop the strategic plan and expected outcomes for
the future growth and development of Diversional
Therapy
across Australia.
Key aspects of planning strategies.
1. Promote, foster, advance and
advocate for the practice of Diversional Therapy.
2. Increase the professional body
of knowledge and its dissemination.
3. Work toward national education
standards and competencies.
4. Develop and foster cooperative
national and international networks.
5. Recognize excellence in continuing
professional development and services rendered
6. Provide information regarding
the implementation and outcomes of plans the affiliated
States, and their members.
State representatives elect national
Council Executive at the Annual General Meeting Of
DTAA National Council. State Representatives
are nominated and elected by their state and hold
the position for a two-year term.
